Its official!!!! I have just signed up for my next class – Gum Paste II! 🙂
This course picks up where Gum Paste I leaves off. I’m going to learn to create particular types of flowers that both reinforce my recently acquired skills from Gum Paste I, and provide me with the additional skills and techniques demanded by the industry. I’m very excited!! 😀
In my last class for Gum Paste 1, we finished our flowers by painting (and dusting) them. By doing that you add that final ‘finishing touch’. A little bit of added colour to the stems or the petals adds that realistic look to your flowers. 🙂
In Tuesday night’s class we made Gum Paste Roses. I’ve always wanted to learn how to do it, and now I know how! 🙂 And we didn’t just learn one version, but the three variations of the Rose – the Bud, the partially opened flower, and the Rose in full bloom. So pretty!
In an ealier class we premade all of the centre buds that we would then use tonight to help shape the Roses. Its surprisingly easier than I thought. Maybe I was really nervous, but I expected it to be more difficult. Now don’t get me wrong, Roses are alot of work, and a lot of time and energy to do. But difficult or stressful? No. 😉
And as an added bonus, we also learned how to make a Daisy! 😀
In my last Gum Paste 1 class we continued making more flowers, as well as working on existing flowers.. We learned to make Carnations, as well as the Calyx for the Carnations. We learned to make the flowers for the Blossoms. Before we had made the centres – two types of stamens – yellow centres and white centres. Now we actually created the flowers with the centres. We also made Stephanotis Flowers and Buds. 🙂
