Yesterday was Day 2 of soup making: Vegetable Stock.
I love the way my house smells when I make chicken stock… and I also love the way my house smells when I make Vegetable Stock too! Thankfully, it doesn’t take as many hours as making chicken stock from scratch. I’m excited about all the yummy soups I will be making from my fresh homemade vegetable stock. 🙂
I love the way my house smells when I make chicken stock. It almost makes up for the many hours involved in making chicken stock from scratch. Once this stock is done, I must admit, I quickly forget about the long day and start planning all the yummy soups I make from my fresh homemade chicken stock. Yum! 😉
Sometimes the simplicity of just really fresh and flavourful ingredients make the best pizzas. Don’t get me wrong, I love to make some very creative and unique artisan pizzas, but sometimes, you just want classic yumminess. 😉
I will admit, I have eaten many a margheritan pizza in a wide range of restaurants throughout my life. Most of the time, I come to the same conclusion.. unfortunately.. a lot: they can be very bland. Why? Well, that’s because of the ingredients. And probably most importantly, it’s the tomatoes! If you don’t use fresh, luscious, flavourful tomatoes, your pizza will be flat. I am amazed at how many restaurants probably end up using a hothouse tomato instead of a vine-ripen tomato. It honestly makes all of the difference. That, combined with the fresh garlic and basil gives you what is probably one of the simplest, yet most delicious combinations! 🙂
I LOVE flowers.. and I am a lucky girl that my husband brings me home bouquets. 🙂 What can I say?! Sometimes it’s the simple things that make me happiest!
These photos were taken a few days later when the roses opened up a bit.. Check out the cool colours. The outer petals were a darker pink, but the inner petals were a super light pink. And some petals even looked like they had been painted. It was a like a beautiful surprise inside! 🙂
With Brent being away for work for a couple weeks.. and with a surprise Air Canada seat sale, this past weekend I took a little trip to Alberta to visit him. I flew into Calgary on Thursday, spent Friday sightseeing in the city, then we drove up to Banff that (mid-late) afternoon. I have never been there before, and definitely have never seen the Canadian Rockies up close, but wow.. so incredibly beautiful! Had an amazing time in Banff on Friday night and Saturday, then we continued on to Lake Louise Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning we headed out of Banff National Park and into Jasper National Park where we went up to the Columbia Icefields, where I walked around on a glacier.
