Valentine Macarons!!

Valentines macarons
Strawberry Macarons with White Chocolate Lemon Ganache! Yummy!

For Valentine’s Day, I made macarons… but not just any traditional macarons, I decided to get creative. Β And boy did they turn out delicious!!

I made Strawberry Macaron cookie shells, but with two different fillings.

The first filling was a White Chocolate Lemon Ganache. The tart flavour of the fresh lemon with the sweet of the white chocolate makes a perfect pairing, with neither overpowering the other And then combined with the strawberry cookie shells, and you couldn’t ask for a better combination! πŸ™‚

The second filling I made was a Basil Buttercream. Yum! The buttercream tastes amazing because I used fresh basil leaves which I infused. But it’s not a savory filling per se, rather a sweet buttercream with herbal notes. And basil is a perfect pairing with the sweetness of berries, and in this case, strawberry cookie shells. πŸ™‚

Chocolate Brownie Strawberry Tower Cake

In yesterday’s last Cakes: Classic to Modern class we made Chocolate Brownie Strawberry Tower Cake! πŸ™‚

I will admit it is sad that this class has come to an end. It was really a very good class. It is definitely one I would recommend. But I will also admit, it went out with a bang! I always find it facinating when you learn from different Chefs, and the Chef that had taught the other classes in this Cakes: Classic to Modern class was actually on vacation for our last class. So we had a fill in. And what a fill in it was! Our Chef was a Pastry Chef form the Four Seasons Hotel here in Toronto!Β  πŸ˜€
